I never heard of this band, but I saw the album in my local record store and was intrigued by the cover art. When I arrived home, I immediately went to Amazon.com and listened to some snippets of the songs. The
Lasers [Explicit].I have followed Lupe for a few years now and frankly I'm sick of all this talk about how this album is not the real Lupe. This album is great, Period. Is it more pop than his first two albums? Yes, will some people start that old crap argument that this is not the real Lupe? Yes, they will. The lyrics are top notch. If this is your first Lupe album you will not be disappointed!!
Sigh No More.The album starts with the title track, Sigh No More. The song starts slow with sparse instrumentation, swelling into something you'd expect to hear at a full on hoedown (in London) and serves as a wonderful introduction to Marcus Mumford's voice; not pretty or soothing, but strong and with the ability to evoke powerful emotion.
